Fellow illustrator John MacConnell informed me about ioby's design contest. Basically, illustrators can give their take on what NYC's urban environmentalism looks like to them. They're a new non-profit organization that supports local environmental work in
NYC's five boroughs. So here's my contribution!

Creative Quarterly
I had realized Horse's Resolve was going to be printed in Creative Quarterly no. 15, but was really surprised to find it took up a whole page! Very exciting! Here's some quick snapshots of the cover and my illustration inside:

Lipstick Lover
"Oh make-up, how I love you so."
First completed illustration since coming back from Japan! Yay! I realized their campaigns for cosmetics are astronomical there. Majority of their commercials are women's beauty products. You can't get away from the ads! But I love the stuff as well so I really can't complain. Here's my homage to all the facial products people can't live without.

Jet-LAAAAAG
It's a terrible thing to have. But nevertheless, there is a 13 hour difference between NYC and Japan. Due to a really bad setup of my wacom tablet while overseas, there wasn't much illustrating that could happen. I apologize.
So I present to you another concept sketch for a graphic novel I've been writing out. ...Which would make a total of... three that I'm writing. It's a bit daunting, but this one seems like it could easily be drawn out and I might not get so scared while setting up pages like I've constantly done in the past. Once this jetlag ends, I should hopefully get back into the swing of things!

Harajuku
Been extremely busy in Japan! So busy, I didn't have time to post illustrations up here. But you can view some photos from Akihabara and Harajuku as we went to Tokyo for the weekend!
This is an enormous temple near Harajuku. The width of those 'tori' (posts) are huge! A lot of weddings are held here. There was one going on when we visited as well as a birth ceremony!
Right after walking through the park and the temple, you start to see the usual people that hang around Harajuku.
This guy was off to one side of the bridge and.. I'm not sure what he was doing... BUT, a vast difference from here and NYC, is that these guys don't put any hats or cases out to receive money. They just want to be seen.
This is the famous street to walk down from stepping out of Harajuku station. Because it's Golden Week, this is a VERY crowded area! Look at that mass of people!!
