Speed-Drawing Video - Mario World 8-4 Illustration
Commission/request from my brother was to create a Super Mario Bros. illustration from the original NES game. That pivotal moment when you face against Bowser and you're about to cut the bridge away from underneath him.
As part of my Patreon, I vowed to create one video-recording each month of a piece I work on. Only I'm an idiot and recorded in thee worst possible settings and quality - so apologies for how small and poor this is. Next time will be better!

PATREON
I’ve started a Patreon Page!
What in the world is Patreon? Well there’s this handy video you can watch of me, where I squint and wriggle my eyebrows a lot while I explain in the first 60 seconds. If you don’t feel like watching the video - Patreon is where people can support the creators they love.
Basically I’ll continue to post artwork, including daily sketches, WIPs, illustrations etc, but now you have the option of supporting me, by donating as little as $2 a month (that’s like.. less than one fancy coffee a month) to see my artwork AND receive extra goodies, in the forms of drawing videos, art prints, mailed postcards of my illustrations, and more!
It comes down to this: The more support I receive, the more I can give back to you! I’d truly appreciate any re-blogging or sharing of this - even if you are uninterested, perhaps your friends might be? Thanks, everyone! :)

Practice Editorial Illustration
I'm attempting to break into more editorial illustration. To do that, it's best for an illustrator to show Art Directors that they can do those things. Soooo I'm going to start making samples that would correlate to particular articles that didn't have an accompanying illustration.
First up:
In recent years, San Francisco's expensive (astronomically un-affordable) real estate has been getting scooped up by Chinese millionaires, while more locals are forced out of the city.

Animated Hummingbirds
I hadn't animated anything in awhile, and I also hadn't tried to export an animated gif without getting awful colors/artifacts all over it via Flash. So I decided to try and animate one of my illustrations for a change, using a few extra steps to get a clearer animation. It was definitely worth trying out! Hope to animate a few other things in the near future.

Mobile Games
New personal illustration for this week - ‘Mobile Games’
I worked as an artist in mobile games for the last 5 years. I don’t have anything against them. There are very good ones and there are also bad ones.
However, the rare emails sent in where a husband or wife is thrown out of their home because they couldn’t control their online spending for a game I worked on was extremely difficult to hear about.
When creating a game, you always aim to create something fun but also don’t want to live on the streets, so you want your product to be lucrative. Sometimes people can’t control spending on games the same way as at a casino, or buying cigarettes/drugs, alcohol etc.
It was very hard to come to terms with the fact that I’d drawn artwork for a product that caused a problem in another person’s home and as a result, it ended up taking advantage of their addictive personality.
