Haunted House - speed paint

New speedpaint video for the upcoming Halloween season! This illustration is for a client's new album, and wanted it themed for the spooky holiday.

Total time was probably around 6-8 hours - hard to tell as I took breaks to make meals/snack and check social media haha

Final illo -

Speed-Drawing Video - Mario World 8-4 Illustration

Commission/request from my brother was to create a Super Mario Bros. illustration from the original NES game. That pivotal moment when you face against Bowser and you're about to cut the bridge away from underneath him.

As part of my Patreon, I vowed to create one video-recording each month of a piece I work on. Only I'm an idiot and recorded in thee worst possible settings and quality - so apologies for how small and poor this is. Next time will be better!

Practice Editorial Illustration

I'm attempting to break into more editorial illustration. To do that, it's best for an illustrator to show Art Directors that they can do those things. Soooo I'm going to start making samples that would correlate to particular articles that didn't have an accompanying illustration.

First up:
In recent years, San Francisco's expensive (astronomically un-affordable) real estate has been getting scooped up by Chinese millionaires, while more locals are forced out of the city.

Mobile Games

New personal illustration for this week - ‘Mobile Games’

I worked as an artist in mobile games for the last 5 years. I don’t have anything against them. There are very good ones and there are also bad ones.

However, the rare emails sent in where a husband or wife is thrown out of their home because they couldn’t control their online spending for a game I worked on was extremely difficult to hear about.

When creating a game, you always aim to create something fun but also don’t want to live on the streets, so you want your product to be lucrative. Sometimes people can’t control spending on games the same way as at a casino, or buying cigarettes/drugs, alcohol etc.

It was very hard to come to terms with the fact that I’d drawn artwork for a product that caused a problem in another person’s home and as a result, it ended up taking advantage of their addictive personality.

Bridge To Terebithia

New personal illustration for one of my favorite childhood books, Bridge To Terebithia. I actually never saw the Disney film made a few years ago, but maybe one day will get around to it.

Social Attack

New personal illustration I've been chipping away at, finally finished.

I’ve noticed in the last few years, no one is really allowed to have opinions anymore. If you do, for some reason, have a slightly varied opinion, then the rest of the world (whose voices are louder than ever from social media) seem to cry out in vast numbers to squash you down. If someone has a different opinion, the other side of the argument is no longer heard. The person will block/ignore and no actual debate occurs anymore. Or worse, people no longer stand by what they believe in, and cave, catering to the vast majority.

OR, if someone is offended by someone else’s opinion, they need to let the world know they’re offended. I understand that no matter what, someone, somewhere, is going to be offended. It’s just so much… LOUDER now - but the world can’t cater to everything.

TL;DR - Social media attacks are now common and suck the life out of interesting debates.

Perverted Rain

My skin from Topical Steroid Withdrawal has been sucking the life out of me (I'm about to enter month 8 of this horrible process). However, my skin finally let up for the last 2 days (barely) but I was able to draw on my own time for the first time in awhile. It was raining a lot in San Francisco so have some uh... perverted rain.

bengal influenced doodle

My fiance picked up Vol 1 of bengal's Luminae comic (http://www.magnetic-press.com/luminae/)

I am loving all the colors and line work in there. Gorgeous motion in the hair and faces.

Super influenced right now, really, really had to make a doodle.
